Consultation on how to reduce speeding traffic along Cotswold Road

Recently many local residents who live along Cotswold Road have contacted your local Lib Dem team about the increase in speeding traffic on this road.

The Lib Dem team are arranging a visit to Cotswold Road with a Council Highways Officer to discuss what can be done to reduce the speed of traffic along this residential road to improve the safety of local residents, children and their parents walking to the Infants and Junior Schools, as well as other road users.

Following local residents contacting the Oldfield Ward Liberal Democrat Team, we have persuaded the Council to investigate safety improvements to reduce traffic speeds along Cotswold Road.

Local Campaigner Will Sandry said, "Many local residents have called on the Council to look at options to reduce the speed of traffic along Cotswold Road. We want your views on how we can help reduce the potential for future accidents."

Cllr Shaun McGall added, "It would be useful useful to receive your views and comments by Friday 16th March 2007, so that we can draw up proposals which we can formally consult on to improve pedestrian safety as soon as possible".

What a great idea to slow down the traffic in Cotswold road. A friend of mine once asked about speed ramps or chicanes, but was told, because it is a bus route it couldn't be done. rubbish!!! what about camden road, chicanes all the way along and a bus route.so many cars use it as a short cut it is a nightmare. lots of children are coming and going from school and the cars are so fast, please do something . . . .

Please don't put traffic chicanes in Cotswold Road, parking is already limited and chicanes would just make the situation worse. Perhaps speed bumps or speed cameras?
